Hello and welcome to my blog! Today I am going to share a fun card and technique with you using simple supplies and my tips and tricks for adding color to detailed die cuts.
This card is actually made of just stamps, ink, and paper. For today's card I wanted to make a square card so I have a 4 1/4" x 8 1/2" piece of Basic White Thick Cardstock scored at 4 1/4".
Masked Shapes Cards:
To create a Masked Shaped Card you will need some type of mask (either die cut or store bought), stencils or small stamps, ink, and some cardstock. Once you have gathered your supplies you are ready to go. For my example today I will be using a mask that I die cut one of the outline dies from the Apple Blossoms Dies.
Masked Shaped Cards Steps:
Cut your Masking Paper to the size of your card front if you are using a homemade Mask. Once you have the mask cut to size you are going to take your die and place it in the center of the Masking Paper or thin copy paper, and run it through your die cutting machine.
Once you have you mask cut you are going to place it on your card front. This is where Masking Paper comes in handy because you do not need any additional adhesive to hold your mask in place.
Place your stencil oner the mask and ink blend over it. If you are doing this with small stamps you are going to want to use a Stamp Positioning tool for the best stamping results.
Arrange you small stamps so that it fills the masked opening and ink up all the stamps and stamp onto your card front. Repeat the stamping if you need to make the images darker or missed any areas.
Remove the mask to reveal your Masked Shaped Card Design.
Decorating your Masked Shaped Card:
Now you are ready to decorate your card. For mine I die cut the detailed flowers and leaves from the Apple Blossoms Dies from some Basic White Cardstock and did a little ink blending on them to add a little color. I then assembled the die cut pieces and attached them to the card front around the Masked Shape.
Once I had the small flowers and leave in place I added my sentiment. I stamped the sentiment from the Apple Harvest Stamp Set in Tuxedo Black Ink at the bottom of the panel. I then added the panel to my top folding square card base with strong adhesive.
To finish off my Masked Shaped Card I added a few Basic Rhinestone Jewels to each of the die cut flower centers. Thanks for dropping by today I have all the supplies that I used listed below in the description.
