Just a Quick Note to Say...

Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to share with you a fun little card using the Host Stamp Set Mischievous Mice from the January-June Mini Catalog. This is an adorable little set with some fun images. Here's a look at my card for today.

To start making this card I stamped the mouse with the balloon on some Basic White Cardstock in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. Since I needed to stamp it a few times to get a nice dark impression I used my Stamparatus. This way I could stamp it a few times in the same position without worry. Any stamp positioner would work to do this. Once I had this little cutie stamped I let the ink dry for a little bit before coloring it with my Polychromos Colored Pencils.

Background - Up Up Up and Away:

For the background on this card you may be wondering where in the world is that stamp? Well, it really isn't a stamp at all. It was part of the Cling Red Rubber that was inside the balloon and held the balloons shape and one of the sentiments. When you separate this mouse image and the sentiment you have this fun little shape left and I thought it would make a fun solid image to stamp. So I used that image on a piece of Basic White Cardstock cut at 4" x 5 1/4" and stamped it all over in Mango Melody Ink, Flirty Flamingo Ink, and Garden Green Ink to create this fun playful background.

A Little Piecemeal work:

After the mouse was colored I used my Paper Snips and cut him and the balloon out. It wasn't as hard as you may think to fussy cut: Yes, I said the dreaded words fussy cut! But honestly it didn't take to long and the added step added so much to the card. I placed the background panel back in my Stamparatus and stamped the mouse in the position I wanted him again in Tuxedo Black Ink. This way I didn't have to cut around the whiskers or the balloon string. I could then place both the mouse and the balloon over the stamped images in the background and move on. Super easy to do and I encourage you to give it a try.

Finishing Touches:

To finish off my card I added my focal image to a mat layer made from Garden Green Cardstock cut at 5 3/8" x 4 1/8" and added that to my card base made from Basic White Thick Cardstock (5 1/2" x 8 1/2" scored at 4 1/4"). I stamped the sentiment on a piece of scrap Basic White Cardstock in Tuxedo Black Ink and punched it out with the Double Oval Punch. Then I punched a scrap piece of Flirty Flamingo Cardstock with the scalloped oval on the same punch and layered the two together. Then I placed it on the card with a couple Stampin' Dimensionals to finish my card.
