Patriotic Thank You Card - Wanted To Say Dies
Hello and welcome to my blog! Today I am sharing with you a Patriotic Thank You Card design since it's Memorial Day here in the United States.
Patriotic Thank You Card Design:
For this card design it took a little thinking to figure out how to do it. I used stencils to create the stars and the strips on the card design. I masked off the area I wanted to stay the white of the Basic White Cardstock panel. I did have to dig in my stash to find stencils that would work for the strips and stars. I used one of the retired Seasonal Decorative Masks from the last Holiday Catalog to create the strips. And for the stars I used a stencil from Picket Fence Studios which apparently is retired but I did link to a star stencil that could be used on Amazon.
For the stenciling I used Night of Navy Ink and Real Red Ink along with my Small Blending Brushes to do the ink blending over the two stencil designs. Once I had all the stenciling in place I did partial embossing with one of the Basics 3D Embossing Folders to create a little more texture on the card panel.
Partial Embossing:
Below you can see the partial embossing really well in the close up image of the card front. I used my Circle Layering Dies to cut out the same size circle from four pieces of the back of the packaging from a pack of Designer Series Paper cut the same size as the card front.
I used the normal DSP pack insert not the thicker chip board like insert for this. And you can see that it leaves the opening plain and the embossing is on the outside of what was cut away.
Finishing Touches:
To finish off the card I used the Wanted to Say Dies to cut out the sentiment in Basic White Cardstock and the shadow layer from Night of Navy Cardstock. I added a few more stars from some scraps of the iridescent glimmer paper from the Supple Shimmer Speciality Paper (retired) that was in my scrap bins. The little star dies cut out in groups of five and are part of the Wanted To Say Die set. I just snipped two off with my Paper Snips and placed them on the card where I wanted them to be.
