Stampin' Up! Desert Details Pure Magic Card

Hello and welcome to my blog; today I have a fun card using the Desert Details Bundle some Copper Foil Sheets and a couple items that are retired but they just made the card what it was so there was no avoiding it. Here's a look at my card.

Dry Embossing with Stencils:

For the background panel of my card I used some of the Copper Foil Sheets (which are on the last chance list) and one of the stencils from my collection. The stencil that I used was from the Plenty of Patterns Decorative Masks from a couple of catalogs ago. But while writing this post I found a couple similar ones online at Simon Says Stamp from different companies or you could use something that you may have. To dry emboss with your stencils you need a stencil, a rubber embossing mat (if you don't have one you can use two of the Silicon Craft Sheets stacked on top of each other for more thickness).

Here's the sandwich that I use:

  1. Base Plate for embossing for your die cutting machine

  2. Silicon Craft Sheets or Embossing Mat

  3. Your cardstock or foil (The Basic White or Very Vanilla Thick Cardstock works the best)

  4. Stencil

  5. Embossing Plate

  6. You may want to add one cardstock shim on top for more pressure. But you will have to play with this because each machine is calibrated differently.

Once I had the foil sheet embossed I then cut it down into different size strips and attached it to the card base. My card base is Very Vanilla Cardstock cut at 4 1/4" x 11" scored at 5 1/2". I then added each of the Copper Foil Sheet strips to the card base with a strong adhesive. I like to use a dry adhesive when adhering foil sheets; for my card today I used some of the Stampin' Seal+ adhesive to adhere each.

Next I stamped the large succulent and two of the small ones form the Desert Details Stamp Set in Delicate Celestial Copper Ink (which is retired but Simon Says Stamp carries it along with the ink refill and other colors from this line). Once the pigment ink was dried I used the coordinating dies and cut out each one. While I waited for the ink to dry I stamped my sentiment in the same color ink but onto a piece of Basic Black Cardstock. To finish off the card I added the larger succulent with Stampin' Dimensionals and the smaller two tucked underneath with just some Stampin' Seal+. I added the sentiment strip and a few of the Brushed Metallic Adhesive Backed Dots for a little extra touch of copper. I have linked all the items below that I used on my card today.
