Whimsical W-Fun Fold Card: A Step by Step Guide
Welcome, crafty friends! In today's blog post, we're going to explore the enchanting world of paper crafting and learn how to create a whimsical W-Fun Fold Card. This delightful design adds a touch of magic and surprise to any occasion. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced card maker, this step-by-step guide will help you create a charming card that is sure to wow your loved ones. So, gather your crafting supplies and let's get started!
Materials Needed:
Cardstock or patterned paper
Scoring tool or bone folder
Paper trimmer or scissors
Adhesive (double-sided tape or glue)
Decorative elements (stamps, stickers, die cuts, etc.)
Markers, colored pencils, or watercolors (optional)
Embellishments (ribbon, sequins, gems, etc.)
Prepare Your Materials:
Gather all the required materials mentioned above. Choose cardstock or patterned paper in colors and designs that suit your desired theme. Ensure your paper is of a suitable weight to maintain the card's structure.
Cutting the Base:
Take your chosen cardstock and cut it to the desired size for your card base. For a standard size card, an 8.5 x 11-inch sheet can be cut in half to create two 8.5 x 5.5-inch or two 4 1/4 x 11-inch card bases. Fold one of the card bases in half to create the card's front. Your cutting of your chosen cardstock color will be based on which way you want to make your card open.
Creating the W-Fold:
Take some additional cardstock in the same color as your card base and cut it smaller for the inside of the card. Cut it at 1 3/4" x 11" (for a 4 1/4" x 11" card base) or 1 3/4" x 8 1/2" for a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" card base.
Scoring and Folding:
Once you've got your card bases made, you will Score this piece of cardstock three times. For a 4 1/4" x 11" card base score the 1 3/4" x 11" piece of coordinating cardstock on the 11" side at 2 3/4", 5 1/2", & 8 1/4". For a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" W-Fun Fold card score the 1 3/4" x 8 1/2" piece of coordinating cardstock on the 8 1/2" side at 2 1/8", 4 1/4", & 6 3/8". The card base will be folded like normal. But the 1 3/4" pieces will be folded to make a valley, mountain, valley fold.
Attaching the W-Fold to the Card Base:
Apply adhesive to only the back two parts of the W shape that will be touching the inside of the card base, making sure to cover the entire surface. Align the W shape with the inside of the card, positioning it slightly unto the edge of the inside of the card base. Press firmly to secure it in place. If you are going to add Designer Series Paper or an inside section of the card You need to attach those first before adding the w Fold.
Embellishing the Card:
Let your creativity shine by adding decorative elements to your card. Use stamps, stickers, die cuts, or draw your own designs on the cardstock panels created by the W-Fold. You can also add color using markers, colored pencils, or watercolors. Don't forget to personalize your creation with sentiments and messages. The outside of the card can be decorated as normal.
Finishing Touches:
To complete your whimsical W-Fun Fold Card, add some finishing touches. Embellish with ribbons, sequins, gems, or any other embellishments that match your theme. Be sure to secure them with adhesive or glue.
