You're Kind of A Big Deal

Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to share with you a card using just stamps, ink, and paper. Yep it's a SIP Card! I actually used two different stamp sets to create this card. I used the Gentle Waves Background Stamp and the Whale Done Stamp Set. Here's a look at the card that I created for today.

Feel the Ocean Breeze:

I started out my card by stamping the background image first. I stamped on a piece of Basic White Cardstock cut at 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". Now I could have stamped the Gentile Waves Background Stamp in just one color and let the stamp show all the color variations in the stamp itself, but I decided to play that up a little. Plus, since this was going to be a SIP Card I really wanted to showcase the inks.

Gradation of Blue:

I picked three different shades of blues to ink up the background stamp with. I used Pacific Point Classic Ink, the new 2022-2024 In Color Tahitian Tide Classic Ink, and Coastal Cabana Classic Ink. Hmm do you notice my ocean themed ink on my ocean background? Because I decided to use three different colors of ink on the Gentle Waves Background Stamp I decided to use my Stamparatus and a Blending Brush to help with the color transition. I started out with the lightest color ink which was Coastal Cabana and ink up the stamp while I had it in my Stamparatus I used my Blending Brush to tap on the area I knew I would want my second color to land so that the color was lighter and stamped it down. I repeated this process all the way to the end with the last color my Pacific Point Classic Ink.

Finishing Touches:

To finish off the card I needed to add the sentiment and something a little extra. So, since we are making a SIP Card I pulled out my Whale Done Stamp Set and picked the "You're kind of a Big Deal" sentiment and stamped it at the top of the card front with Pacific Point Ink. I did stamp it in the Stamparatus so I could stamp it a couple times in the same spot. I wasn't sure how dark the ink would show on the background image.

I then took the whale from the stamp set and masked off the bottom part of him with a post it note and inked him up in Basic Gray Classic Ink before stamping him a couple times on the background as well. I made sure to mask each time I inked up the stamp and stamped him down. If I could have found a White Gel Pen that was working I would have added a spray coming out of his blow hole for a little extra cuteness. Charles even suggested that when I showed him the card.

But I told him I couldn't find a gel pen that wanted to write; which is odd because non of the ones that I have are that old that they should be dried out. But anyway; back to the card I then cut down the card front a little and attached it to my 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" card base made from Basic White Thick Cardstock. And that my crafty friends finishes off my card for today. I hope you have a wonderful day as always you can find all the supplies used linked below.

Happy Stampin'
