It’s no secret I love a good fun fold, and today’s card has all the charm, color, and character you could ask for—thanks to one fabulous flamingo. If you joined me for yesterday’s video tutorial, you might recognize this layout. I shared a sweet bee version using the same bookbinding fun fold design. But what I didn’t show you was that this card, featuring the adorable Flamingos Stamp Set from C.C. Designs, was actually the original inspiration. Sometimes a stamp just jumps out at you and says, “Hey, I’m ready to party!”—and this flamingo absolutely delivered.
This project is a great reminder that a strong layout can serve as the foundation for multiple cards, all with their own personality. And if you’re someone who likes to get the most out of your supplies (like I do), you’ll love how easily this fun fold comes together with just a few tweaks.

C.C. Designs Flamingos Make This Fun Fold Card Pop!
A Party-Ready Flamingo and a Tried-and-True Layout
When I first saw the Flamingos Stamp Set, I knew exactly what I wanted to do: that flamingo with the gift and party hat was practically begging to be the star of a bright, cheerful birthday card. I reached for my favorite smooth white cardstock—Hammermill, which always gives me crisp stamped images with my Memento Tuxedo Black Ink—and got to work.
For the layout, I reused the bookbinding fun fold from my recent video because it’s a go-to for when I want something that looks impressive but is actually simple to pull off. It’s also a fantastic way to use 6x6 paper pads without having to do much trimming or measuring. Speaking of paper, I pulled out the Blossoms and Bees 6x6 Paper Pad from Echo Park. This paper pack is full of bright, happy prints, and I chose two patterns that really let the flamingo shine—a rainbow polka dot and a bold floral.
Pro Tip: When I’m working on a design like this, I always pick my patterned paper before coloring. It’s so much easier to match your markers to the paper than the other way around.

Dimension, Texture, and That Pop of Personality
Once I had my focal image colored with OLO Markers, I used the largest die from the Scallop Lace Circle Dies by Paper Rose Studio to create a soft, lacy frame. I love how that die adds just the right amount of detail without overwhelming the rest of the card. I popped the die-cut up on foam to give the card a little lift—dimension really makes the focal point stand out, especially on a busy background.
To add texture, I wrapped burlap twine around the bookbinding flap and tied a simple bow. It’s a small touch, but it gives the card that extra handcrafted feel. Plus, it balances out the softness of the lace and floral patterns.
The sentiment, “You Are Flamazing,” was stamped in black onto a stitched rectangle die-cut. And here’s a fun little detail I like to include: I grabbed one of the R5.1 OLO marker I had used on the flamingo and traced around the edge of the die-cut. It’s such a quick way to tie everything together and help your sentiment panel feel finished and cohesive.

Sparkle and Finishing Touches
No card of mine is complete without just a little sparkle, and this one got a few Tickled Pink Rhinestones from Pajama Crafter Stamps sprinkled across the background. I also added white gel pen highlights to the flamingo for that polished, dimensional look. These tiny touches take less than a minute but really elevate the final result.
What I love most about this card—besides that sassy flamingo—is how easy it would be to swap out the papers and change the whole vibe. You could use holiday colors, pastels for spring, or even spooky Halloween patterns and still make this layout work beautifully.
Pro Tip: If you're ever stuck in a creative rut, try reusing a layout with a completely different color scheme or stamp set. You'll be surprised how fresh it feels with just a few changes.

Final Thoughts
This project was such a joy to make, and I hope it inspires you to revisit some of your favorite fun fold layouts with a new twist. The C.C. Designs Flamingos Stamp Set brought so much personality to this card, and paired with some playful papers and a few special touches, it turned into a celebration on a card front.
