There’s something about a big, bold floral image that just makes my heart happy—especially when I get to fill it in with rich, cheerful color. Today’s card was inspired by that feeling you get when you're sending a card to celebrate someone’s big moment—whether it's a graduation, a new job, or just making it through a tough week. I wanted something that felt fresh, joyful, and full of life, and the Delicate Blossoms Stamp Set from the Simon Says Stamp Happy Camper Release delivered just that.

This card is all about letting the floral image do the heavy lifting, and then layering on color and detail to create something that feels both celebratory and intentional. If you’re looking for an idea that’s vibrant, easy to recreate, and looks like you spent hours on it (even if you didn’t!), this one’s for you.

A Floral Image That Steals the Show

One of the things I love most about the Delicate Blossoms Stamp Set is the size of the main floral cluster. It’s large enough to fill an A2 card front without feeling overcrowded, and the details in the illustration are just perfect for alcohol marker coloring. I stamped it in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto a piece of Hammermill Smooth 100 lb cardstock—my go-to combo when I’m reaching for my Ohuhu Brush Markers.

Here’s a little behind-the-scenes: I actually sat down to color this while catching up on a podcast, and before I knew it, the whole thing was done. That’s how relaxing this kind of coloring can be. If you’re someone who loves to unwind with a little creative time, these kinds of floral images are perfect for that.

A Color Palette That Brings the Party

I knew I wanted this card to feel like a celebration, so I chose a palette that felt joyful and bright: yellows, corals, dusty pinks, and yellow-greens. I kept the color transitions pretty soft so the flowers would still have that delicate look. Once the blooms were done, I added a light sky blue wash around the image to hint at a sunny outdoor setting without overpowering the florals.

Pro Tip: If you ever feel like your card needs a little “lift,” adding a soft background wash around your focal point is a great way to add depth and polish. Keep it light, and blend the edges with a colorless blender or a very pale marker so it doesn’t feel boxed in.

And for the centers of the flowers? I used a golden yellow combo that gives just the right amount of pop. It’s a tiny detail, but it makes a big difference—those warm tones help anchor the overall look.

Clean Layers & Clever Details

After everything was colored, I trimmed my panel down to 4" x 5.25" and mounted it to a top-folding A2 card base using Neenah Ultra Thick Cardstock. I like the heft that Ultra Thick gives—it makes the card feel like a keepsake.

The sentiment came from the same Delicate Blossoms set—I chose "Congratulations" because this card could work for so many different occasions. I heat embossed it in clear over Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink on a scrap of the same Hammermill cardstock. That combo gives you crisp, dark lines with just a bit of raised shine—simple, but it always looks finished.

To pull it all together, I added a stitched border around the edge using a black gel pen. This has become one of my favorite tricks lately. It adds that hand-finished look without needing to run your card through a die machine again. A few white gel pen highlights on the petals and leaves added extra dimension, and a sprinkle of Pastel Ice Embellishment Mix gave just the right amount of sparkle to finish it off.

Final Thoughts: When in Doubt, Add Flowers

This card reminded me how much I love returning to basics—a great floral image, a happy color palette, and a few thoughtful details. It doesn’t take a lot to make something special, and sometimes the simplest layouts give you the most freedom to play.

If you're in the mood to celebrate with color, I highly recommend checking out the Delicate Blossoms Stamp Set and the rest of the Happy Camper Release from Simon Says Stamp. There's so much good stuff in this release, but this floral set is a standout—versatile, elegant, and just plain fun to color.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope this card inspires you to pull out your markers and make something beautiful for someone who could use a little celebration in their mailbox.
