When the air starts to cool down and the leaves begin to crunch underfoot, I always find myself reaching for warm colors, cozy themes, and anything coffee-related in my craft room. There’s just something about autumn that makes me want to create cards that feel like a big hug in an envelope. Today’s project is one of those cards—a cheerful fall gnome clutching his oversized mug, all brought together with some of my favorite supplies from Miss Ink Stamps.
This card combines the Big Mug Stamp Set, the Autumn Blessings Stamp Set, the Coffee Graphic Stencil, and the Tag Die Set. Together, these products make it so easy to capture that cozy, fall feeling in just one card design.

Creating a Cozy Autumn Mood
Whenever I’m designing a seasonal card, I think about mood first. For autumn, that usually means warm oranges, deep greens, and touches of rustic texture. The Coffee Graphic Stencil was the perfect starting point—it let me add a subtle, patterned layer without overwhelming the focal image. A stenciled background like this is a great way to build depth while keeping the card balanced.
Pro Tip: If you want your stenciled background to feel more “in the background,” try ink blending with a slightly lighter shade of the same color cardstock. It gives you texture and detail without stealing the spotlight.

The Star of the Show: That Adorable Gnome
I couldn’t resist the gnome from the Big Mug Stamp Set. He’s holding this giant mug that instantly makes me think of cozy mornings in fall with my favorite oversized coffee cup. I colored him in shades of orange, golden yellowish brown, and mossy green to give him a warm autumn look. When I’m coloring images like this, I like to imagine the little scene—what would the gnome be drinking? Hot cocoa? Spiced cider? A pumpkin latte? That little bit of imagination always helps me choose colors that tell a story.
Pro Tip: If you’re coloring a larger focal image, try pulling your background colors into the image itself. Notice how the orange of the gnome’s hat ties back to the orange panel behind him? That repetition creates a really cohesive design.

Adding Layers Without Bulk
Fall cards often make me want to layer everything, but too many heavy layers can feel overwhelming. That’s where the Tag Die Set came in handy. By stamping the gnome on a clean white tag, I was able to give him a defined space while still keeping the card design airy and open. I tucked a piece of patterned green cardstock behind the tag to create contrast, then finished it off with a simple twine bow at the top.
It’s amazing how much visual interest you can create just by layering shapes. And the best part? The card still fits perfectly into an envelope without feeling bulky.

Sentiments That Shine
The Autumn Blessings Stamp Set has a beautiful seasonal sentiment, and I love how it pairs with other Miss Ink images. For this card, though, I couldn’t resist using the “love your mug” sentiment from the Big Mug set—it just tied everything together perfectly. Sentiments can sometimes be an afterthought, but here it became a playful punchline for the design.

Finishing Touches
To finish the card, I added a few small gems for sparkle. I always say that embellishments are like jewelry for your card—they should enhance the outfit, not compete with it. A little shine goes a long way, especially when you’re working with bold fall colors.

Wrapping It Up
This card really captures what I love about autumn cardmaking: warm colors, playful imagery, and a cozy feeling you can share with someone special. Whether you’re a coffee lover or just someone who enjoys the charm of seasonal crafting, the Big Mug Stamp Set, Autumn Blessings Stamp Set, Coffee Graphic Stencil, and Tag Die Set from Miss Ink Stamps are a perfect way to bring those autumn vibes into your projects.
