You know how sometimes you finish coloring an image and think, “I’ll turn this into a card later”? Well, that’s exactly how today’s card came to life. Over the weekend, I shared a video showing how to create realistic skin tones with your Copic markers, and during that video I colored the skin of one of the fabulous flapper girls from the 20’s Gals Stamp Set by C.C. Designs. I had stamped out a second image just in case I wanted to keep playing… and I’m so glad I did! That one little extra step saved me time when the creative spark hit later. Today I’m sharing how I turned that pre-colored image into a bold, glamorous card with a vintage twist—and lots of shimmer and style.

Flaunt It with 1920s Flapper Style | Cardmaking with C.C. Designs 20's Gals Stamp Set:
A Flapper with Flair – Coloring Her Up
After the video wrapped, I couldn’t resist finishing her outfit. She was just too sassy to leave undone. I reached for my Copic markers and gave her a rich violet dress, headband, and matching shoes using V20, V22, and V25. For the gold accents, I wanted something warm and slightly antique, so I layered YR23, YR24, YR27, and a little E99 to get that glitzy-but-vintage vibe.
Her flower needed just a whisper of color, so I kept it soft with V01 and V000, which paired nicely with the dress without competing with it. And of course, her hair got a soft brunette look using E41, E43, E47, and E49. I love how these shades gave her a bit of depth without overpowering the delicate details. A touch of RV10 and RV11 on the cheeks gave her that rosy, ready-to-dance look.
Pro Tip: If you’re already sitting down to color, stamp and prep a second image at the same time. It’s such a time-saver later and gives you a great backup if you want to experiment or switch gears mid-design.

Building Around a Star
Once I had her fully colored, I trimmed down the panel and mounted it on a slightly larger piece of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock. But instead of reaching for purple cardstock to match, I created my own by coloring the edge of the larger panel with V25. This way, everything coordinated perfectly—and I didn’t have to dig through my paper stash. I used liquid glue to attach the layers together for a nice clean finish.
I knew I wanted the background to be subtle but still connected to the theme, so I took that same flapper image and repeatedly stamped her onto a piece of white cardstock using Heather Ink from Simon Says Stamp. This tone-on-tone effect added texture without stealing the spotlight. After that, I die cut the panel using the largest die from the Rounded and Braided Rectangle Die Set by PinkFresh Studio.
To bring in even more vintage glam, I layered the stamped background over a piece of gold mirror holographic cardstock from the Holographic Mirror 6 x 8 Metallic Paper Pad (SBC). The gold foil peeked out just enough to give it a luxe art deco feel.

Finishing Details That Make Her Shine
When it came time to pull it all together, I adhered everything to a top-folding A2 card base made from Neenah Ultra Thick Cardstock. I like the weight and feel of it for layered cards—it holds up beautifully.
To ground the focal image and tie it into the background, I popped it back into my Mini MISTI and stamped the sentiment “If you’ve got it, flaunt it!” right below her feet. I couldn’t resist going in with a gold gel pen and outlining the letters for a little extra sparkle—it made the sentiment stand out in a fun, unexpected way.
Then came the finishing touches:
A few highlights with my Bold Opaque White Gelly Roll Pen.
Glossy black eyes using a Black Glaze Pen.
And finally, a sprinkle of Gold Glitter Drops (from PinkFresh Studio) to bring everything together with that perfect party-ready sparkle.
Pro Tip: Outlining stamped sentiments or focal panel with a metallic pen is an easy way to elevate the look—especially when working with glam or vintage themes. It’s quick, impactful, and gives your card that extra-special touch.

When in Doubt, Flaunt It
This card was such a joy to put together—and it’s a great reminder that sometimes our best ideas come from things we’ve already started. If you’ve got colored images set aside, challenge yourself to build a card around them using coordinating colors, tone-on-tone stamping, and a touch of shine.
The 20’s Gals Stamp Set is a blast to work with, especially if you love a little attitude and flair in your cards. This flapper girl felt like she needed her moment to shine—and with a few layers, a little planning, and some glittery gold, I think she got just that.
