Hi friends, Rick here! I’m so excited to be sharing a fresh batch of holiday inspiration with you today. I recently got my hands on The Rabbit Hole Designs’ October 2025 Mini Release, and I had a blast creating four completely different Christmas cards using the No Line Watercolor technique. If you’ve ever been a little intimidated by watercoloring, or thought you needed a lot of fancy supplies to make a card look polished, I’m here to show you that it doesn’t have to be complicated. Using just a few stamps, stencils, and dies from this release, you can create cards that feel both artistic and approachable.

Four No Line Watercolor Christmas Cards with The Rabbit Hole Designs October 2025 Mini Release
Clean & Simple One Line Santa
Sometimes, starting simple is the best way to warm up for the holidays—and this first card proves it. I used the One Line Santa Stamp Set for a clean and classic look. The beauty of this stamp is its simplicity: the lines are delicate enough that when you do No Line Watercoloring, the image almost melts into the paper, giving a soft, dreamy effect.
For this card, I kept everything very minimal—just a single image with a soft watercolor wash and a subtle sentiment. This is a perfect starting point for anyone who is nervous about trying watercolor. One pro tip I’ve learned over the years: when you stamp your image with a light ink (like a pale gray or tan), it helps your outlines disappear seamlessly once you start painting. I love how peaceful this card feels, and it reminded me of the quiet snowy mornings we have here in Alabama every few years—the kind that makes you slow down and savor the season.

Santa with a Starry Background
Once I had warmed up with the first card, I wanted to add a bit more dimension. That’s when I pulled out the Holiday Background Builder 6x6 Stencil. I ink blended a soft, starry sky behind the One Line Santa, then fussy cut the Santa and popped him up on foam for extra depth.
Layering the stencil under the focal image is such a simple way to elevate a card without feeling like you’re adding too much. One trick I use: let your background layer dry completely before adding your focal image. It keeps the colors crisp and prevents any bleeding. This card has a little more energy and sparkle than the first, but it’s still easy enough for beginners to try.

Modern Luxury Cupcake Card
For my third card, I wanted to mix things up a bit with a stencil and a different stamp set. The Modern Luxury 6x6 Stencil became the backdrop, but instead of ink blending, I used watercolor to fill in the shapes. For the focal point, I chose one of the cupcakes from the Sweet Christmas Stamp Set, giving it a No Line Watercolor treatment to make it soft and inviting.
To add some extra polish, I layered the background with the Diamond District - Layering/Nesting Dies, which gave the card subtle dimension and structure. I think this card really shows the versatility of combining stencils and images—plus, it’s a lot of fun to play with color combinations here. My tip for this technique: don’t be afraid to experiment with different color intensities on the stencil versus your main image. The contrast helps your design pop without feeling overworked.

Rocking Horse Holiday Card
Finally, I had to include something whimsical. The Baby’s First Christmas Stamp Set has this adorable rocking horse, and I paired it with the Holiday Background Builder Stencil for a soft, festive backdrop. Both the horse and the stencil were watercolored using the No Line technique, giving the whole card a dreamy, cohesive look.
Again, I used the Diamond District Dies on the background panel to bring some texture and dimension. What I love about this approach is how the layering dies give your card a professional finish without requiring tons of extra elements. For cardmakers looking for a creative challenge, this card is a great example of how you can combine playful imagery with stenciling for a polished, finished look.

Final Thoughts
All four of these cards started with the same idea: how can I use No Line Watercoloring to make my holiday cards look unique, elegant, and fun? The answer lies in experimenting with different stamps, stencils, and layering techniques. Each of the products from The Rabbit Hole Designs October 2025 Mini Release—whether it’s the One Line Santa Stamp Set, Modern Luxury Stencil, Diamond District Dies, or Holiday Background Builder Stencil—offers a way to explore different creative directions while keeping the process approachable.
If you’ve been hesitant about watercoloring, I encourage you to start small like I did with the first Santa card, then gradually step up your designs with stencils, die cuts, and layered focal points. You might be surprised at how quickly you build confidence and start creating cards that truly feel one-of-a-kind.
