For my last Pride card of the month, I really wanted to end on a playful note—but I also wanted the message to stand strong. I’ve made several cards this month that feature more traditional rainbow layouts, but this time I thought, why not let the rainbow be the supporting cast and let the dragon steal the show? With the Dragon Fun Bundle and the Sentimentally Speaking Holidays Bundle from The Rabbit Hole Designs, I created a clean and simple design that feels bold, fresh, and full of joy. And the best part? It doesn’t take a mountain of supplies to create something that really pops.

This card combines a subtle ink blended background, strategic stamping for movement, and a single fabulous dragon with rainbow wings that truly makes a statement. It’s a design that’s easy to recreate—and totally customizable for other occasions too.

Rainbow Dragon Pride Card: Dragon Fun Bundle The Rabbit Hole Designs:

Let the Rainbow Support the Story

I started with Bristol Smooth Cardstock because it’s ideal for soft, seamless ink blending. I masked off a square using Mint Tape (a must-have for clean lines and easy removal), then used just three ink pads from The Rabbit Hole DesignsBerrylicious, Sunshine, and Storm—to blend a soft rainbow. This trio gives you red, yellow, and blue, but when they slightly overlap, you get a full spectrum that feels effortless and organic.

Pro Tip: Use 1" blending brushes for small masked areas. They give you more control and help avoid accidentally dragging color where you don’t want it. I used the ones from Pinkfresh Studio for this project and they were just the right size.

The result is this lovely, slightly-muted rainbow spotlight that instantly draws your eye in without competing with the rest of the card. It’s an easy way to anchor a focal image and let the color do some of the heavy lifting.

Movement Without Bulk

One thing I love doing in clean designs like this is creating movement without layers or extra embellishments. I used the flying dragon from the Dragon Fun Bundle, stamping it five times so it’s flying off the edge of the rainbow square in various directions. It’s a simple stamping technique, but it adds such a fun sense of energy—like this little guy is soaring through the sky.

What I love most about this trick is how it balances the card visually and keeps things feeling dynamic. Even without color, those soft black stamped images ground the design and guide the viewer’s eye right to the center.

A Dragon Worth Celebrating

Now let’s talk about the real star of the card: this fabulous rainbow-winged dragon. I stamped him again—this time on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80 lb Cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink—so I could color him with Copic markers. I went with a warm gray body to let his rainbow wings and rainbow-colored spikes take center stage. He’s technically a white dragon, but with so much personality.

Each wing segment and spike got its own color from the rainbow. There’s something really satisfying about watching that color progression come to life, especially against the soft gray. It’s such a fun way to express individuality—just like Pride itself.

I used the coordinating dies from the bundle to cut him out and popped him up with foam squares in the center of the rainbow square. Instant focal point, full of charm and color.

The Perfect Pride Message

For the sentiment, I reached for the Sentimentally Speaking Holidays Bundle, which has a wide range of occasion-based sentiments. The “Happy Pride” stamp felt perfect for this card—clean, bold, and to the point. I stamped it using Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink (my go-to for rich black stamping) and cut it with the coordinating die.

I placed it just below the dragon with more foam squares so it wouldn’t get lost against the rainbow. Simple, striking, and supportive of the theme without overwhelming the design.

Finishing Details That Add Spark

No magical creature is complete without a bit of sparkle. I pulled out my Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle Pen to add shimmer to the wings, and used a white gel pen to highlight a few areas on the dragon for a bit of extra polish. These little touches go a long way in adding dimension and life to the image—especially when you’re working with clean layouts like this one.

Pro Tip: When using sparkle pens, make sure your ink and coloring are completely dry to avoid smudging or dragging pigment.

Final Thoughts

This was such a fun card to make, and a beautiful way to wrap up my Pride projects for the month. It’s colorful without being overwhelming, whimsical without being too cutesy, and meaningful in a way that still feels light and joyful.

What I love most about this design is that it shows how much you can do with just a few products and a little creative masking. Whether you're celebrating Pride, sending encouragement, or just want to bring a smile to someone’s face, this layout is one you can use again and again.

If you haven’t checked out the Dragon Fun Bundle or the Sentimentally Speaking Holidays Bundle from The Rabbit Hole Designs, I highly recommend giving them a look. They’re playful, versatile, and absolutely perfect for cards that speak from the heart.
