Class Project for Easy Ink Blending Techniques AECP Class

Updated: Apr 14

Hello and welcome back to my blog; today I am sharing my project for the Altenew Educator Certification Programs class Easy Ink Blending Techniques. I learned so much from this class, but I narrowed it down to a couple projects to share with you today. I have the card that I made from the class and I also shared in a video the other day one of the best tips from the class.

Easy Ink Blending Techniques AECP Class Projects:

During the class I learned so many tips that will help you improve your ink blending. One of the techniques that I wanted to try on my card today was the Bokeh Technique. Which is the technique that I used on the background of the project that I shared today. I had a fun time creating the background for one. To create the bokeh technique you will "want to use a sponge dauber (or even the Altenew Small Blending Brushes) and ink your chosen tool up and then press it to the cardstock and twist.

Repeat the process with as many colors as you would like to create the look of the Bokeh. I used the Sea Shore Fresh Dye Ink Mini Cube Set, and the Golden Sunset Fresh Dye Ink Mini Cube Set. I used all four colors in each set to add the color in the background. I started with the lightest of each set and moved up to the darkest. I then added in the addition of white pigment ink to complete the bokeh effect.

If you want a more subtle look you can use the same inks for ink blending to create the bubbles! But if you are like me go for a more bright and vibrant variations, go ahead and try different bubbles in colors on your ink blended projects. I used these same ink cube colors on my tulips and vase from the Build-A-Garden: Elegant Tulips Stamp Set. I did use the Build-A-Garden: Elegant Tulips Color Layering Stencils to add the colors. I did two sets of tulips and cut them apart to add more to the card front.

Once I had the ink blending complete I used the coordinating dies and cut out the vase and tulips. Like I said I had two sets of tulips so I went ahead and cut the second one out too. I then did a little fussy cutting to cut our these tulips so that I could place behind the vase. I cut down my bokeh panel and added it to an A2 top folding card base. I also added a small strip of Golden Beryl Glitter Cardstock from the Gilded Glitter Cardstock Set. I also added a little Glitter Paste (I used my Stardust Stickles for the paste, and just applied to the stencil and used a palette knife to spread it through the stencil) to the last layer of the stencil on the vase. I wanted to add a little glitz to my project.

Easy Ink Blending Techniques AECP Class Tip:

The other tip that I learned from the class that I found super helpful. And that was to take different cardstocks (Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Bristol Smooth Cardstock, and Canson XL Watercolor Paper) and ink blend a swatch of each ink color in your stash to create swatches for your inks. I still have to do my new Fresh Dye Inks.
