There are two things I love—crafting and coffee. And let’s be honest, some days, coffee feels like a necessity! That’s why I couldn’t resist creating this fun, caffeine-fueled card featuring the Caffeinated Critters Bundle from The Rabbit Hole Designs. This flamingo completely understands the importance of a good cup of coffee, and the sentiment? Well, it speaks for itself.

This card is all about playful layers, soft ink blending, and a pop of humor, making it a great project for any coffee lover. Whether you want to brighten someone’s day or just need an excuse to use that adorable flamingo, this design comes together beautifully with just a few key elements.
Coffee Because Anger Management Is Too Expensive:
A Fun and Easy Focal Point
Whenever I create a card, I love starting with the focal image—it helps set the tone for the entire design. For this one, I stamped the flamingo from the Caffeinated Critters Bundle onto a 2 1/4" circle die cut using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. Since I planned to color with OLO Markers, this ink was a great choice because it won’t smear with alcohol markers.
I kept the coloring simple, blending a few pink tones to bring the flamingo to life. A quick tip for coloring small images: use light flicking motions with your markers to create soft transitions, especially in areas like feathers or fur. This adds depth without overworking the paper.
To help the image stand out, I layered it onto a slightly larger 2 1/2" Black Cardstock circle from Concord & 9th. The contrast makes the flamingo pop, giving the design that bold, eye-catching look.

Custom Background with Ink Blending
If you’ve ever struggled to find the perfect patterned paper, let me introduce you to ink blending with stencils—a game changer! For this background, I used the Sip, Sip, Ahh! 3 x 4 Stencil to create my own coffee-inspired pattern.
I started with a piece of Ballet Slipper Cardstock cut to 3 3/4" x 5" and blended Ballet Slipper and Peony Inks through the stencil, focusing on the coffee cups and beans. The soft pink tones give the background a warm and cozy feel, perfect for a coffee-themed card.

Pro Tip: Masking for Clean Stenciling
Before blending, I masked off areas I didn’t want inked. A little extra effort here makes a big difference in keeping the design crisp. Low-tack tape or stencil brushes work great for controlling where the color goes.
Once the ink blending was complete, I matted the panel onto a 3 7/8" x 5 1/8" piece of Black Cardstock. That thin border of black ties in with the focal point and sentiment, making everything feel cohesive.

Adding the Sentiment and Final Touches
The sentiment on this card is what makes it truly stand out. I chose "Coffee Because Anger Management Is Too Expensive" from the Blended Sentiments A2 Sheets. These pre-printed sentiments are a great time-saver—no stamping or embossing needed!
Since I wanted the sentiment to match the card's bold elements, I used the black background with white text and trimmed it down. To tie it in with the rest of the design, I layered it onto a thin Ballet Slipper Cardstock mat, mirroring the focal point layers. A little foam adhesive gave it the perfect amount of dimension.

The Finishing Touch
No card is complete without a little sparkle. I added a touch of bling for a final accent. Small embellishments like sequins or gems help draw the eye and give the design that extra bit of polish.

Final Thoughts
This card was such a fun one to make! The combination of humorous sentiments, layered elements, and custom backgrounds makes it a great project for anyone who loves coffee and card making. Plus, using stencils to create your own patterned paper opens up endless possibilities—you can easily swap out colors or stencil designs to fit any theme.
