There’s something so magical about release days, isn’t there? I always feel like a kid flipping through a brand-new box of crayons, ready to dive in and play. The new Pinkfresh Studio Delicate Details Release has that same spark for me. The mix of press plates, coordinating stencils, and dies makes it incredibly easy to create cards that look intricate without requiring hours at your desk. Today I’m sharing two cards I made for the hop, and both designs revolve around combining clean, crisp press plate impressions with soft blended color. If you love cards that feel detailed and layered but still come together smoothly, this release is such a treat.

Cards with floral designs and messages like "For a special someone" and "Wishing you a beautiful birthday," surrounded by craft materials.

Lush Elegance: A Floral Frame with Texture and Glow

One of my favorite things about the Lush Elegance Press Plate is how beautifully it works with multiple systems. I leaned into that flexibility by using it with both my Glimmer Hot Foil System and the BetterPress System. The hot foiling gave me those shiny floral outlines on smooth white cardstock, while the BetterPress impressions on Canson XL watercolor paper delivered that bold black detail I love when I want to watercolor. It reminded me of when I first experimented with combining mediums years ago and accidentally discovered that my favorite cards usually came from mixing crisp lines with soft color. That happy contrast still gets me every time.

For the foiled version, I used the Lush Elegance Stencil set and Pinkfresh inks to lay down the color in a clean, blended look. For the pressed version on watercolor paper, I switched gears and painted my florals using a couple of Pinkfresh ink cubes as makeshift watercolors. If you’ve never tried that, it’s such a great trick for coordinating your stamped coloring with your backgrounds. A reader once told me she never buys watercolor palettes anymore because she can do everything she needs with her ink cubes, and she wasn’t wrong.

To give the whole card a soft glow, I created an ombre background panel using Peach Fuzz, Apricot, and Clementine. Watercolor paper adds just a little texture to the blend, and I really loved how that played against the delicate outlines of the florals. I also cut a Fancy Rectangle Frame from the same watercolor paper to tie everything together and give me a place to tuck the images around the edges. A popped-up sentiment from the Lush Elegance Press Plate and a sprinkle of Gold Glitter Drops finished the whole design with just the right amount of sparkle.

Pro tip: When your card feels like it needs a little structure, adding a frame die can instantly anchor your elements without crowding the design.

Bloom & Brew: Warm Color and Clean Lines

The second card focuses on the Bloom & Brew Press Plate, and I pressed the image using the BetterPress System and Detail Black Ink for that crisp, letterpress-style finish. This plate has such lovely movement in the lines that it practically colors itself once you bring in the coordinating Bloom & Brew Stencils. I reached for a warm palette of Pinkfresh Studio inks again, but this time kept the colors a bit lighter to let the sentiment take center stage.

I trimmed the panel down to a neat 3¾ by 5 inches and added a black cardstock mat to make the colors pop. It’s funny how a simple black frame can make everything feel instantly more polished. Years ago, someone taught me that black cardstock is the cardmaker’s little black dress, and I still think about that every time I reach for it.

To finish the card, I added one of the sentiments I had previously hot foiled using the Lush Elegance Press Plate. The mix-and-match ability between these products is one of my favorite things about Pinkfresh releases. A few Ice Clear Drops added just a hint of shine without overwhelming the design. This entire card came together quickly but still has that detailed, intentional look that makes handmade cards feel special.
