There’s something about crisp air, changing leaves, and a hot cup of coffee on a cool morning that makes me want to pull out all the rich autumn papers and ink up some pumpkins. That’s exactly where the idea for this card class came from. I wanted to create a small, cozy collection of fall cards that felt warm and thoughtful—but didn’t take hours to make. If you’ve ever sat down with your fall stamps and felt a little stuck (too many ideas, too much product, or just unsure where to begin), this class was made for you. It’s all about making beautiful seasonal cards with a tight set of supplies and a whole lot of creative fun.

Let’s take a closer look at the four card designs in this class and the techniques and products that helped bring them to life.

Autumn-themed cards with pumpkins, sunflowers, and leaves. Text reads "Grateful Gatherings Card Class Video Tutorial." Warm, festive colors.

Cozy Layers with a Modern Mix

For the first card in the class, I went all in on pattern mixing—think plaid, tiny dots, soft leaf prints—all from the Simple Vintage Autumn Breeze 6 x 8 Paper Pad by Simple Stories. What makes it work is keeping the color palette cohesive. Everything centers around warm oranges, deep greens, and rich browns, which tie into the focal stamped image from the Grateful Gatherings Stamp Set from Honey Bee Stamps.

I stamped everything in Memento Rich Cocoa ink onto Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80 lb cardstock—a go-to combo that gives a softer, more organic feel than black ink, especially for fall projects. All the images in this class were colored using my Spectrum Noir TriBlend Brush Markers, which blend beautifully and take the guesswork out of shading.

This card also features one of my favorite little tricks—splitting the sentiment into two fonts. The large “Gather” (die cut) paired with the smaller stamped “Together” gives just enough contrast to make it feel special without overwhelming the design. And because I couldn’t help myself, I tucked in a few Gold Glitter Drops from PinkFresh Studio for just a touch of sparkle.

A Wagon Wheel and a Twist

Card two is probably the boldest of the bunch, but it came together with the same core supplies. The standout here is that large wagon wheel image from the Grateful Gatherings set. I used the coordinating Outline Dies to cut it out and then let part of the image hang off the edge of the card front for a bit of unexpected movement.

To balance the strong vertical design, I added a strip of the diagonal green stripe paper (again from the Autumn Breeze pad) and tied on a bit of Burlap Twine from May Arts. I love adding twine to fall cards—it brings in a bit of rustic charm and makes everything feel more finished.

One of my favorite moments when making this card was realizing how much the wagon wheel reminded me of a family hayride we used to go on every October. My mom would bring a thermos of hot cider, and we’d all sit on bales of hay, bundled up in flannel. That’s the feeling I wanted this card to give—homey, familiar, and a little nostalgic.

Golden Blooms for a Clean and Crisp Look

If you're someone who loves a clean and simple layout with a big wow factor, card three might be your favorite. It’s built on a crisp white card base, with a horizontal band of florals across the bottom and two large sunflowers as the focal point. The floral pattern is another gem from the Autumn Breeze paper pad—just busy enough to feel rich, but not so bold that it competes with the stamped images.

I placed the greeting just above the paper strip and then added burlap twine and gold glitter drops for a little movement and sparkle. This design really lets the coloring shine, especially those warm yellows and browns on the flowers. A quick tip here: when working with a more open layout like this, odd-numbered embellishments (I used three drops) help your eye move across the card more naturally.

This design is one you can easily replicate with just about any larger floral stamps in your stash, which makes it a great go-to layout when you're short on time.

Fall-themed card with pumpkin, sunflowers, plaid and polka dot patterns, and "HELLO" text. Background features autumn leaves.

Bold Backgrounds and Balanced Design

Card four is all about contrast and balance. I paired one of the boldest patterns in the paper pad—a vibrant leaf print—with a panel of orange dots and a diagonal plaid. That might sound like too much, but the trick is grounding it all with a strong central image, like the large pumpkin cluster from the stamp set.

This layout works because the background creates a frame around the focal point without taking attention away from it. I also kept the sentiment simple: just a stamped “Hello” tucked beside the image. And again, a few Gold Glitter Drops pulled the whole thing together.

This card reminds me of walking through the leaves in our backyard as a kid, hands in my pockets, crunching through piles while the sky turned pink. It’s busy in the best way—just like fall itself.

Let’s Make Fall Cards That Feel Like Fall

At the end of the day, this card class is about more than just paper and ink. It’s about capturing that cozy, warm, pumpkin-spiced feeling in your crafting. And you don’t need 25 stamp sets or five hours at your desk to do it. With the Grateful Gatherings Stamp Set, a thoughtful mix of pattern paper, and a few simple embellishments, you can make four beautiful cards that you’ll be proud to send—or keep!

I hope this inspires you to pull out your fall supplies and give these designs a try. And if you join in on the class, I’d love to see what you create. Remember—there’s no wrong way to make a card that comes from the heart.
