Halloween crafting always brings out the most playful side of me, and this card is no exception. The We Fly Stamp Set from C.C. Designs instantly reminded me of that unforgettable scene when the Sanderson Sisters belt out “I put a spell on you.” I couldn’t resist bringing them to life on a slimline card. Slimline designs are one of my favorite formats when working with character stamps—they give you plenty of room to tell a little story while still keeping everything balanced and polished.

Coloring the Sanderson Sisters
I started by stamping the three witches from the We Fly Stamp Set onto Bristol Smooth Cardstock with Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink. That ink is a go-to for crisp black outlines, especially when I’m planning to use water-based markers like Karin Brushmarker Pros (exact colors used listed in the supply list below). For this project, I intentionally kept to a limited color palette—it not only makes the trio look cohesive but also helps speed up the coloring process.
Since this set doesn’t come with coordinating dies, I fussy cut each of the sisters by hand. I’ll be honest: fussy cutting isn’t my favorite part of cardmaking, but I’ve found that a good pair of sharp scissors and taking your time around the finer details makes all the difference. If you’re someone who avoids stamps without dies, this is a good reminder that the extra step can be worth it when the characters are this much fun to use.

Creating a Magical Night Sky
For the background, I cut a panel of Bristol Smooth Cardstock sized to fit a slimline card and reached for my Distress Oxide inks (colors used listed below). Blending a mix of deep blues and purples gave me the perfect base for a Halloween night sky. To add interest and depth, I lightly spritzed the panel with water and blotted it with a paper towel—this creates that dreamy, textured look Oxides are known for.
The real magic happened when I added Salvaged Patina Distress Spritz. It leaves behind a soft shimmer that shifts beautifully in the light, almost like moonlight glimmering against the night sky. If you’ve ever struggled with flat-looking ink-blended backgrounds, a touch of shimmer spray is such an easy fix.

Adding the Sentiment and Characters
Once the panel was dry, I stamped the sentiment “I put a spell on you and now you’re mine” directly onto the background with the same Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink. I love that this sentiment ties the entire card together and really captures the spirit of the movie.
From there, I adhered the background to a Midnight Black Cardstock mat before mounting it onto a slimline card base created by using Neenah Ultra Thick Cardstock. The sisters were added last, with foam tape behind two of them to create layers of dimension. This little trick ensures they don’t disappear into the busy background. To make them pop even more, I used a white gel pen to add highlights to their clothing and hair. It’s a simple detail that can instantly brighten your coloring.

Finishing Details That Shine
The finishing touch came from the Glow Sky Embellishment Mix by Trinity Stamps. These tiny stars and moons glow in the dark, and let me tell you, they are pure magic once the lights go out. Adding them to the sky not only filled the empty spaces but also gave the card a fun, interactive element that feels just right for Halloween.
To complete the design, I stamped one of the sisters on the inside of the card along with the cheeky sentiment, “Oh, look, another glorious morning. It makes me sick!” I love carrying a bit of the design to the inside—it makes the card feel more finished and gives the recipient a fun surprise when they open it.

Final Thoughts
This card reminded me why I love slimline formats so much. They give me the space to let character stamps really shine and allow room for storytelling. The We Fly Stamp Set from C.C. Designs captures the Sanderson Sisters perfectly, and with a little ink blending, shimmer spray, and glow-in-the-dark embellishments, you can create a card that feels both playful and polished.
If you’ve been looking for a way to bring a little extra magic to your Halloween cardmaking, I can’t recommend this combination enough. And don’t be afraid of sets without coordinating dies—the results are more than worth a little extra cutting.
