If you’re anything like me, you probably love giving handmade gifts just as much as making handmade cards. There’s something extra special about handing someone a treat or small gift wrapped in something you created yourself. Today, I’m sharing a fun twist on gift packaging — two versions of the 3D Mouse Popcorn Box using products from Scrappy Boy Stamps. One has a bright, theme park-inspired look (perfect for any time of year), and the other has a festive holiday spin that’s great for Christmas gifting. Both were made with the 3D Mouse Popcorn Box Die Set, and I used patterned papers from the I Love Theme Parks and I Love Christmas 6x6 Paper Packs to bring each box to life.

A Fun Theme Park Treat Box
When I first saw the 3D Mouse Popcorn Box Die Set, I instantly thought of movie nights, theme parks, and all things fun. It just had that “happy day out” feel to it! So, I started with a base cut from Cranberry Cardstock and layered on panels from the I Love Theme Parks 6x6 Pattern Paper Pack — which, if you’ve used it, you know is full of bold, cheerful prints that practically smile at you.
Once I had the panels attached to each side, I added a stitched square die cut to the inside of the box for a little extra stability. (Pro tip: This not only reinforces the structure but also gives a more polished finish when you’re gifting something heavier like popcorn or candy.) I love when a project looks professional and feels sturdy, and this little touch makes all the difference.

For the front, I built the signature mouse details — that adorable head and those little hands — all from the same die set. I layered them onto a gray stitched square layered on a white cardstock square and finished with the die-cut word “Popcorn.” It’s simple but has so much personality! This version is perfect for party favors, birthdays, or even just a surprise “movie night in” treat box for a friend.

A Festive Spin for the Holidays
After finishing the first box, I couldn’t help but think how cute it would be in Christmas colors. So, I made a second version with a holiday twist! For this one, I swapped the base to Cilantro Cardstock and used the I Love Christmas 6x6 Pattern Paper Pack for the panels. The patterns in this pack are so cheerful and festive — you really can’t go wrong pairing any of them.
This time, I wanted to turn the boy mouse head into a girl mouse, so I grabbed the bow die from the Ghost Mouse Die Set (released last month). I added it right above the ears — instant holiday magic! Before adhering the bow, I added some Rock Candy Glitter to the center bow for a little sparkle. It’s subtle, but when the light catches it, it gives that perfect Christmas shimmer without feeling over the top.

For the sentiment, I reached for the Santa’s Workshop Stamp Set and stamped one of the greetings onto a stitched square using Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink. That crisp black ink never lets me down for sentiments. Once the box was fully assembled, I tucked in some crinkle paper, and it was ready to fill with candies, ornaments, or a small gift.
(Pro tip: When you’re creating multiples for the holidays, prep all your die cuts at once — cardstock bases, pattern panels, and embellishments. Assembly goes so much faster, and you’ll thank yourself later!)

Cute, Customizable, and Quick
What I love most about this 3D Mouse Popcorn Box Die Set is its versatility. Change up the papers, add a bow or sentiment, and you instantly have a new theme — from birthday to Christmas, or even Valentine’s Day with pinks and reds. The shape itself is just so cheerful, and it’s one of those projects that looks complicated but is actually really simple once you get started.
Whether you’re making them for kids, friends, or even as party favors, these little boxes are guaranteed to make someone smile. And honestly, that’s the best part of crafting — creating something that spreads a bit of joy.
So next time you’re looking for a fun way to package small treats or gifts, grab the 3D Mouse Popcorn Box Die Set and your favorite Scrappy Boy Stamps Paper Pack. You’ll have an adorable, custom-made gift box in no time — and maybe a little glitter on your hands, too.
