Sweet Donut Card with a Simple No Tool Shiny Glaze

Today’s card is a clean and layered donut card that’s sweet, playful, and has just the right amount of shine—without any messy glazes or specialty tools. I used the Mouse Sprinkle Donut Die Set, Fairy Tale Phrases Die Set, and the I Love Theme Parks 6 x 6 Pattern Paper Pack from Scrappy Boy Stamps to create this fun storybook-style design. The colorful patterns paired with soft pinks and browns give this card a cheerful, polished look that works beautifully for birthdays, celebrations, or just-for-fun cardmaking.

The real star of this project is the no-tool shiny glaze technique, which gives the donut that realistic glazed finish using items most of us already have in our craft rooms. I started with pink cardstock from the Sprinkles Smooth A2 Cardstock Paper Pad, added soft ink blending for dimension, and used a simple tape trick to create that glossy glaze effect when die cutting. The donut base was cut from the Neutrals Smooth A2 Cardstock Paper Pad and layered together for depth, then popped up with foam tape for a clean, finished look. The “Once Upon a Time” sentiment adds a whimsical touch, and a few white gel pen highlights were the perfect final detail to bring everything together. This is one of those techniques you’ll want to try again and again—easy, tidy, and so effective!
