Today I’m sharing three clean and simple Christmas cards that were such a joy to make using the Rainbow Village Basics 6 x 6 Pattern Paper Pack from Paper Rose Studio. I’ve been reaching for this paper collection a lot lately because the colors feel cheerful and bright without losing that cozy holiday charm we all love. These cards are perfect if you want something festive and eye-catching that doesn’t require a ton of time or complicated techniques. Each design uses the same sentiment from the Stacked Sentiments No. 2 Stamp Set, the same black paint splatter for cohesion, and a mix of dies that do all the heavy lifting. If you love the look of crisp white space paired with pops of color, this little trio might be right up your alley.

Three Clean & Simple Christmas Cards with Rainbow Village Basics Pattern Paper

Bauble Trio with Rainbow Florals

One of my favorite things about pattern paper is how it can instantly turn simple die cuts into something special. When I saw the floral designs and the sweet little village scene in the Rainbow Village Basics paper pad, I immediately thought of ornaments. There’s something nostalgic about decorating the tree with mismatched but meaningful baubles, and these papers captured that feeling perfectly.

To bring that idea to life, I used the Baubles with Bows Metal Cutting Dies along with my Stitched Circles dies to trim out the floral clusters and the tiny house image. The combination of Charcoal Black A4 Cardstock and the soft shine of the Golden Dream A5 Shimmer Cardstock created that classic ornament frame without overpowering the bright patterns inside. One detail I love is stacking darker die cuts behind more delicate shapes. It adds depth without extra bulk, and it’s a trick I use often to help colorful pieces stay grounded on a clean background.

I kept the card base simple with a few black acrylic paint splatters so the ornaments stayed the star of the show. A foam-mounted ornament in the center added just enough dimension. And to finish it off, I added the Happy Christmas sentiment from the Stacked Sentiments No. 2 Stamp Set using its coordinating dies and the Sentiment Banner Strips Metal Cutting Dies. If you’ve ever struggled to get a crisp sentiment on a busy background, pairing a bold font with die cutting is such an easy solution and keeps everything feeling polished.

Pro Tip: When working with bold patterned elements, try anchoring them with black cardstock. It adds contrast, helps the colors stay balanced, and instantly gives clean and simple cards more structure.

Colorful Candy Cane Christmas Card

The second card was inspired by the candy cane aisle at my local grocery store. You know the one where the traditional red and white canes sit right next to the rainbow ones, and suddenly you want to put every single box in your cart? That’s exactly the kind of fun and whimsy I wanted to capture here.

Using the Candy Cane with Bow Add On Large Metal Cutting Dies, I cut the candy canes from Basic White A4 Cardstock and the outline portions from the Rainbow Village Basics Pattern Paper. What I really loved about this is how easily the paper added movement and character to a very classic Christmas shape. I added a touch of shading to the white layers with my Copics, which helped them feel dimensional without weighing down the design.

I flipped one candy cane over so the pattern ran in a different direction, giving me a perfectly mirrored pair without needing to cut another sheet of paper. The bows were cut from the same Basic White cardstock with shimmer cardstock centers to tie in the soft glow from the first card. A few black acrylic splatters kept the background consistent with the rest of the set, and the Happy Christmas sentiment from the Stacked Sentiments No. 2 Stamp Set finished it off.

Pro Tip: When cutting mirrored elements, try flipping your patterned die cuts upside down or to the reverse side instead of cutting a second piece. You’ll get variation without wasting paper.

Poinsettia Border with a Rainbow Twist

For the final card, I wanted to use the Poinsettia Border Die because it always adds such an elegant touch without feeling too formal. Paired with a strip of the Rainbow Village Basics Pattern Paper, the crisp white poinsettia design becomes modern, bright, and surprisingly easy to work with. This is one of those cards that looks like it took hours, but really it’s the die doing most of the work.

I cut the border from Basic White A4 Cardstock and backed it with one of the rainbow-washed sheets from the paper pack. The gradient of color shining through the poinsettias gave me instant holiday magic without needing any ink blending or coloring. I adhered the design to another splattered card base to keep everything consistent and then finished with the same Happy Christmas sentiment used on the other two cards. Using the same greeting across all three designs gives them a coordinated look, making them perfect for gifting as a small card set.

Pro Tip: Intricate dies look their best when paired with bold color or soft shimmer behind them. Choosing a patterned paper instead of blending your own background can save you time while still giving the finished card a polished, detailed feel.

Final Touches and Thoughts

All three cards were finished with a scattering of Crystal Clear Embellishments, which added the perfect amount of sparkle without distracting from the clean designs. If you ever want to create a set of cards that feels unified but not repetitive, try choosing a simple formula like white space, one bold pattern per card, matching sentiments, and a shared background texture. It keeps everything cohesive but gives you the freedom to play with dies and designs you love.

These clean and simple Christmas cards came together quickly thanks to the thoughtful dies and bold patterned paper from Paper Rose Studio. Whether you’re batch-making your holiday cards or just looking for a few fun designs to try, I hope this little trio sparks some ideas for your own craft table.
