Hello crafty friends; I hope that you are having a fabulous day. Today I have not one but two projects to share with you using the Envelope Box-Card Die Sets! And this die set is a fun one from Pixi Dust Designs. I created both of these projects for day 6 of my Holiday Card Series. Let's get into the projects.
Envelope Box Dies Two Ways:
Versatility in Your Supplies:
Both my projects today features the Envelope Box-Card Dies Sets. For both projects I also used the Christmas 6 x 6 Paper Pad, Nested Frames Dies, and the Happy Holidays Stamp Set all from Pixi Dust Designs.
As I mentioned I used the Envelope Box-Card Die Sets for both projects today. I love this die set because it's so versatile. You can use this die set to create a gift box in the shape of an envelope but also an envelope box card as well. This gives you even more ways to create using products in your stash. I love any supply that allows me to get more from my stash.
Coloring the Images:
For both projects i stamped out all the images from the Happy Holidays Stamp Set using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto some X-press It Cardstock. I colored all the images using my Copic markers. I went with a traditional color pallet for todays projects. You can find my Copic Color Combinations for these projects below.
After stamping out the images from the Happy Holidays Stamp Set; I started the coloring process and tried to stay with the same color combinations for all the images. For the image of Santa by himself and Santa with Miss Clause I colored them using the same red color combination and the same skin tone color combination. I repeated the same color combinations though out the coloring process.
Festive Gift Box:
For the gift box I used one sheet of Meadow Cardstock (from Hero Arts) I just cut it down to 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" to fit in my die cutting machine. For the box you need to cut all the pieces that are part of the Envelope Box-Card Die Sets except the one at the top in the photo. That piece is used to create the inserts for the Envelope Box Card. This is a large die set and comes in two different packages. You can see in the image below how I laid out the pieces to fit on this half sheet of Meadow Cardstock.
For the decorative pieces I cut all of them stitched pieces from one sheet one of the plaid pattern papers from the Christmas 6 x 6 Pattern Paper Pad. You can fit all the pieces on just the one sheet. You can see below how I laid out the dies to fit them all on the same sheet.
To close for the box you can actually do it a couple different ways. You could use small magnets, velcro, or do what I did and use some May Arts Natural Twine. I just wrapped the twine around the box a few times and tied it into a bow. I added a sentiment that I stamped onto some Cranberry Cardstock (from Hero Arts). I prepped the cardstock with my CottonTail Powder Tool  and stamped the sentiment using Unicorn White Pigment Ink and covered it in Detail White Embossing Powder and heat set it. I then used one of the frame dies from the Nesting Frames Dies to cut out the sentiment once the heat embossing had cooled and then cut one from Meadow Cardstock that was the next size up. This allowed for a layered look.
To decorate the front of the box I added Santa and Miss Clause. There are no coordinating dies that match the Happy Holidays Stamp Set so I had to fussy cut the images. I added the image to the front of the box by adding to foam squares to the top of the colored image and placed it between the twine. To add a little sparkle to the projects I added some Stardust Stickles to the white areas of their outfits.
Envelope Box Card:
To create the envelope box card you will cut all the same pieces (except the die that cuts the bottom of the box) from the Envelope Box-Card Die Sets. For the card I cut all the base pieces from Cranberry Cardstock and the decorative pieces from a different pattern of the pattern paper from the Christmas 6 x 6 Pattern Paper Pad. I alternated the colors from the gift box.
After assembling the card box I added the two insert pieces that you create with the die set (see the cardstock cutting image above). I cut it once from the Cranberry Cardstock and once from the Meadow Cardstock. Once everything was put together I added the stamped and colored images from the Happy Holidays Stamp Set; that I fussy cut out to the card. I added the single Santa to the back insert and Rudolph with the sleigh to the second insert. I then added Frosty with the Christmas Tree to the front.
After that it was time for the sentiment. So I used both of the sentiments from the Happy Holidays Stamp Set. I prepped a scrap of the Meadow Cardstock with my CottonTail Powder Tool and stamped the sentiment with Unicorn White Pigment Ink and used the same Detail White Embossing Powder to cover it. I then heat set it; once it was cooled I cut out the sentiment with another one of the frames from the Nesting Frame Dies. I then cut out the next size frame up in Cranberry Cardstock so I could layer them as I did on the gift box. I added the sentiment with foam squares. And finished off the project by adding a few white gel pen highlights with my Pentel White Milky Pop Gel Pen and a little Stardust Stickles.
