Hello, crafty friends! Today, I’m sharing a card project that’s been such a delight to create—and I think you’re going to love it too. You know how sometimes you stumble on a card design that just feels right? That’s exactly what happened with this fun fold. It’s not only pretty and interactive, but it also works in both imperial (A2) and metric (A4) measurements—so no matter where you craft, you’re covered.
I’ll be honest: finding card fold ideas that fit both sizing systems can be a challenge, and I often hear from fellow crafters who feel stuck trying to convert measurements. So today’s post is here to help. I’m using the absolutely magical Lavender & Fairies 6 x 6 Paper Pack, the Lavender & Fairies 6 x 6 Basics Paper Pack, and the Lavender & Fairies Embossed Die Cuts from Paper Rose Studio, and this project came together with just a few simple tweaks to the measurements. I’ve shared all the details below so you can create this fold in either size and make it your own.

The Magic of the Lavender & Fairies Collection
I couldn’t resist diving into the Lavender & Fairies 6 x 6 Pattern Paper Pack and the Lavender & Fairies Basics 6 x 6 Pattern Paper Pack for this project. The combination of soft lavender hues, ethereal fairies, and delicate florals just makes my heart sing. I also used the Lavender & Fairies Embossed Die Cuts—they add such a lovely pop of texture and whimsy.
For my imperial (A2) version, I used my trusty Brilliant White 110 lbs Smooth Cardstock as the base, and for the metric (A4) version, I reached for Basic White A4 Cardstock. I love that both work so beautifully with the patterns and die cuts—it’s a reminder that good cardstock is the backbone of any great card design.

My Little Story: Why I Love This Fold
I’ve always had a soft spot for interactive cards. Years ago, I made a birthday card for my sister that had a little flap fold—she still has it on display in her living room! There’s just something so fun about opening up a card and discovering that extra little layer, like a hidden surprise just for the recipient. That memory was in the back of my mind when I sat down to design this card, and it reminded me how impactful simple folds can be.

Putting It All Together
For the A2 version, I started with a card base cut to 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4". The front flap was made from white cardstock, measuring 3 3/4" x 4 1/4" and scored at 1/2". For the pattern paper on the flap, I used a piece of Lavender & Fairies Basics cut to 3" x 4". The main card front features a beautiful floral from the Lavender & Fairies 6 x 6 Pattern Paper Pack, cut to 4" x 5 1/4".
For the A4 version, the process was nearly the same. My card base was 14.8 cm x 21 cm, scored at 10.5 cm. The front flap measured 8.5 cm x 10.5 cm, with a score at 1 cm. I used the Lavender & Fairies Basics paper cut to 7 cm x 10 cm for the flap and a lovely piece of the Lavender & Fairies 6 x 6 Pattern Paper Pack cut to 10 cm x 14.3 cm for the card front.
Here’s a little pro tip I’ve learned: burnish those scored lines really well. It makes such a difference in getting that nice, crisp fold, especially for an interactive card like this one.

A Few Final Touches
Once I had the flaps attached—using a strong adhesive to make sure they stayed put—I had so much fun embellishing. I added some of those gorgeous embossed die cuts from the Lavender & Fairies collection. They’re like little pieces of art, instantly making your card feel special.
For the sentiments, I trimmed out a few from the Lavender & Fairies 6 x 6 Pattern Paper Pack and layered them onto thin white cardstock mats to help them pop. And of course, no card is complete without a touch of sparkle—I finished everything off with the Crystal Clear Shaker Embellishment Mix. Those little bits of shimmer catch the light beautifully and make the card feel even more magical.

Why You’ve Gotta Try It
What I love most about this fold is that it’s easy to adapt, yet it looks so impressive. It’s one of those cards that feels like it took ages to make, but it really just comes down to a few clever cuts and scores. Plus, it’s a great way to use up those smaller pattern paper pieces that might otherwise get lost in your stash.
So whether you’re crafting in inches or centimeters, this fold has you covered. I hope you’ll give it a try—it’s such a wonderful way to let your supplies shine and create a card that’s as fun to make as it is to give.
