Hey crafty friends! Today, I’m excited to share a sweet winter card that all started with a Valentine die set. You know those moments when you look through your stash and realize a die set you love doesn’t have to be limited to just one season? That’s exactly what inspired today’s project. I pulled out the Fox Valentine Box Die Set from Pixi Dust Designs and decided to give that adorable little fox a cozy winter makeover. With a few clever swaps and some creative mixing and matching, she went from Valentine’s sweetheart to winter cutie in no time.

Stretching Your Seasonal Dies
One of my favorite things about cardmaking is finding new ways to use products I already have. Dies that seem “holiday-specific” can often be reimagined for entirely different occasions just by changing the color palette or the accessories.

For this card, the fox from the Fox Valentine Box Die Set was just too cute to tuck away after February. I gave her a fresh winter look by adding a pink scarf from the Cozy Winter Die Set—it instantly made her look ready for a snow day. I love how a simple accessory can completely change the vibe of a character die.
Pro Tip: When you’re looking to stretch your supplies, try cutting your character dies in neutral tones. Then, swap out seasonal details—like hearts for snowflakes, or flowers for scarves—to match the theme you want.

Building a Winter Scene
Once I had my fox ready, it was time to build a cozy little winter backdrop for her. The background started with a softly ink-blended sky in light aqua tones to give that frosty, winter-morning feel. Then I needed something for her to peek over—something that added depth and character.
That’s where the Christmas Chimney Grandfather Clock Add-On Die Set came in. I used the label die from that set to create a rustic fence, coloring it up in warm browns to give it a wooden texture. It’s such a fun reminder that sometimes the most unexpected dies can serve double duty when you think outside the box.
Pro Tip: Keep a small tray or notebook handy where you jot down dies you’ve repurposed in new ways. You’ll be surprised how often a label, tag, or background shape can turn into something entirely different on your next card.

Snowflakes, Sentiments, and Finishing Details
No winter card is complete without a little snow. I added a few delicate snowflakes from the Let It Snow Sentiment Die Set to fill the sky and add movement to the scene. Each one adds a touch of texture and sparkle without overwhelming the focal point.
For the sentiment, I went back to the Cozy Winter Die Set and used its “Let It Snow” sentiment die—it had the perfect size and style to tie everything together. The playful font feels just right for the cheerful, peek-a-boo fox and balances the composition beautifully.
Little details like this—mixing die sets for harmony—can make your card look cohesive and thoughtfully designed, even when you’ve pulled elements from multiple collections.

A Sweet Winter Finish
When everything came together, I couldn’t help but smile. The fox peeking over her little fence feels so full of personality, like she’s just waiting for the first snowflake to land. What I love most about this project is that it’s a perfect reminder of how much creativity lives in the space between “intended use” and “what if.”
If you’ve got seasonal dies sitting in your stash, take another look—you might see a winter scene waiting inside a Valentine set or a springtime image hiding in your Christmas collection. That’s the beauty of die cutting; there are no limits once you start to play.
