Truck Shaped Card: Truck Money Holder Dies | Video Tutorial | Pixi Dust Designs

The holiday season is the perfect time to get creative with your card making, and this project has quickly become one of my favorites. I’m thrilled to share these Truck Shaped Cards featuring the Truck Money Holder Dies from Pixi Dust Designs. Whether you want to give your cards a playful, gift-ready twist or simply love a unique card shape, this project is packed with festive flair and functionality.

These cards were inspired by a family tradition of exchanging holiday cards stuffed with little surprises. Growing up, my grandmother always added a crisp bill or handwritten note to her cards, and I remember how much fun it was to peek inside. This project brings that nostalgia to life with a modern twist, all thanks to the money holder die. Let’s dive into what makes this design so special!

Truck Shaped Cards:

The Charm of the Truck Money Holder Dies

One of the things I love about this die set is how versatile it is. The truck shape is timeless, and with a few creative tweaks, you can customize it for any occasion—not just Christmas! For these cards, I paired the Truck Money Holder Dies with a mix of Pixi Dust Designs products:

The combination of these elements transforms the truck into a festive holiday centerpiece, perfect for holding cash or a small note in the truck’s tailgate.

Adding Dimension with Cardstock and Patterned Papers

For the truck base, I used Neenah Solar White 80 lb Cardstock, which is sturdy enough to handle layering and embellishments. To give the trucks a festive pop, I cut additional bases from Altenew Velvet Cardstock and Altenew Olive Cardstock. These rich, textured papers bring a cozy, holiday vibe to the design.

Pro Tip: When layering die cuts, I always recommend scoring the back layer just under the etched fold line. This small adjustment ensures your card opens smoothly without compromising the design.

For the decorative details, I dipped into my stash of holographic, glitter, and regular cardstock scraps. These tiny accents—like the truck’s lights and trim—are what bring the design to life. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different textures here. Holographic cardstock, for example, adds a magical shimmer that pairs beautifully with holiday cards.

A Festive Truck Bed Full of Holiday Cheer

Now, let’s talk about the fun stuff—the truck bed! The details here are what make this project truly special. I used the patterned papers from the Christmas 6x6 Pattern Paper Pad to cut cozy plaid cocoa mugs, marshmallows, and a chocolate bar. These tiny details are so fun to assemble, and they give the truck bed a festive, gift-filled look.

Pro Tip: For those intricate details, like the snowflake cutouts on the cocoa mug, layer glitter or holographic cardstock behind the openings. This creates a pop of sparkle that feels like freshly fallen snow.

One of the trucks even doubles as a money holder. I used the money holder die to cut a slot into a piece of plaid paper, which fits perfectly into the truck’s tailgate. It’s such a clever way to turn your card into a practical gift holder without losing any of the charm.

Finishing Touches with Festive Sentiments

To pull everything together, I added die-cut sentiments to each card. The Joy Die and Ho Ho Ho Die are perfect for this design, offering bold, cheerful typography that stands out beautifully against the plaid and glitter accents.

If you’ve ever struggled with adhering delicate die cuts, here’s a tip: Run the back of your die-cut piece through a Xyron sticker maker for even adhesive coverage. It saves time and ensures a clean, professional finish.
